Yay! New contest time! We have more new members, and I encourage all of you to participate! I'm hoping that we get a better turnout this go round...
Minimalist Contest
I used to loathe Ernest Hemingway, but now I idolize him. Expressing your feelings in few words is not easy. Now this doesn't mean flat out say what you are trying to express. That would be simplictic not minimalist. Lead your readers into what you want them to think. Make them puzzle it out. If you need some help, look up a poem called "The Red Wheelbarrow." See if you can get at what it means. Note me if you are still confused, or couldn't find a good enough analysis on the poem. This was the poem that made me fall in love with minimalism. Now let your creativity loose. Oh, and please pay attention to the rules
Rules
1. Be minimalist. Not simplistic. You can be super detailed and it still be minimalist(the afore mentioned poem is a great example of this).
2. Try to make the subject adressed span past the object at hand. Make it ring true on a large scale. Like really go read "The Red Wheelbarrow." Re-think the things you take for granted(like the rain to grow the food that you eat. If you haven't read the poem by now, I am upset with you.)
3. You can have 7 line max. If you feel daring do less, but no less than 3. I will not be forgiving on this rule. It is meant to be hard. Don't complain, just make art.
4. Submit your entry to the folder entitled "Minimalist Contest"
Deadline and Prizes
This contest starts Nov. 1 and goes all the way through November. The winner will get 5 points, and a feature depending on how many entries we get(I'd say after we get 7 entries or I will feature the winner in a journal).
Until we meet again, I wish you no writer's block. If you have any questions, note me or comment on this journal. Questions and comments are always welcome!
InertiaA tragic convulsion of misconstrued thought.read it, love it, go read his stuff. Don't worry a true feature will happen shortly
forgotten the snare, of which I've been caught.
Retrospection a massacre, Reminiscence amassed.
My leisure foretold, the tombstones have cast.
Those shadows inside, I've witnessed most dear.
Yet masks like inkblots, have begun to smear.
Their tongues now a murmur, evoked once before.
To whom they reside in, are conscious no more.
A tragic convulsion of misconstrued thought.
Forgotten the snare, of which I've been caught.
A harrowing curse, yet remittance was cloaked.
For misplaced remembrance of life's ample yoke.

Snow in Los Angeles
Well actually, sunny California is on fire and I'm surprised I haven't choked on all the ash and smoke yet.
And in the spirit of honesty, would you say this is an active group?
I mean this is the second blog post anyone's written all year and no one hosts contests because no one participates in them...
So maybe it doesn't matter if this is an "active" group, maybe what's important is that the group is whatever it needs to be for its members, which it somehow keeps getting more of.
In that case, is this group what you want it to be?
(go on, comment...you know you want to..... I see you with those itchy fingers wanting to type something)

POESIA OSCURA ( DARK POETRY )
Sheridan was behind the veil saw the brightness of the male,,,wishing to embrace such a cruel angel let go the Desire to take over the roses roses by the sea far away from the heart that bleeding heart of him which wants to say never then one fog came blurring the comunication from the red sky and rain comes like death unwelcome...
